Can I use the Octopus referral code for an EV tariff?

Yes. Switch to Octopus with the referral code on a standard tariff (you get the £50 credit), then move to Intelligent Octopus Go or Octopus Go once your smart meter is connected.

Which Octopus EV tariff is cheapest?

For eligible cars and chargers, Intelligent Octopus Go has the lowest advertised off-peak rate (from 7.6p/kWh). Octopus Go works with any EV. See our worked example for the maths.

Octopus also says that if you forgot the link you can contact them with the referral code afterwards, as long as you signed up directly on its website.
