Quick answer
Power Pack is an Octopus add-on for vehicle-to-grid (V2G). Octopus manages charging and exporting, and refunds your EV charging so it's free.
Needs: a compatible EV and charger, a smart meter, a G99 export approval, and plugging in 12 hours a day, 20 days a month, using under 210 kWh a month.
Savings (Octopus figure): £620 a year compared with Flexible Octopus, or £161 compared with Intelligent Octopus Go, for 7,500 miles.
How it works
Your EV charging is billed at your normal home rate, then credited back based on readings from your charger. You can set a minimum charge level below 30%. Solar or battery export is still paid at your usual export rate.
Questions
Which cars work with Power Pack?
Octopus currently lists one compatible combination: a V2G-enabled BYD Dolphin with a V2G-enabled Zaptec Pro charger. Check Octopus's Power Pack page for updates.
Does Power Pack work with Intelligent Octopus Go?
No. Octopus says Power Pack doesn't work with Agile, Tracker, Agile Outgoing or any Intelligent Octopus tariff. You'd need to switch tariff first.
